Fall pool closing service
We protect your pool for winter: blown lines, winterized equipment, and the cover on before the freeze.
What we do on every closing
- Lower pool water to below circulation jets
- Remove pool jets, lights, ladders, and deck equipment
- Blow out all pool plumbing
- Remove all equipment drain plugs and filter tank cap
- Install winterizing plugs with foam rope
- Add pool closing chemicals
- Install winter cover; water bags filled and secured for tarp covers
Covered for winter.
Your safety cover is the last thing on, and the most important line of protection your pool has through the season. We position it properly and set every strap and anchor to the deck before we leave. If anything looks worn or off, we flag it. A properly closed pool opens cleaner in spring.

What to expect on closing day
-
We arrive within your scheduled window
You don't need to be home. As long as the backyard is accessible, there's an outdoor tap, and an electrical outlet, we'll handle everything.
-
Lower the water level
We lower the pool to just below the circulation jets. This is necessary before we can blow out the plumbing lines without risking damage to fittings or the equipment.
-
Remove and store equipment
All pool jets, lights, ladders, and deck equipment are removed and stored safely for winter. If anything looks worn or needs attention in spring, we'll note it.
-
Blow out and winterize the plumbing
We blow all lines clear of water, remove equipment drain plugs and the filter tank cap, and install winterizing plugs with foam rope for a secure, freeze-proof seal.
-
Add closing chemicals
A full closing chemical treatment is added to protect your pool through the off-season: pool shock, algaecide, and a stain and scale inhibitor to keep the water in good condition until spring.
-
Install winter cover and water bags
Your cover goes on. For safety covers, we set all straps and anchors to the deck. For tarp covers, water bags are placed and filled; any additional bags needed beyond what you have will be invoiced separately.
Gas heaters require a certified gas technician. If yours needs attention before being shut down for winter, we can connect you with the technician we work with.
How to prepare
- Have your pool clean and water balanced before we arrive
- Clear the pool area and deck (including pet waste)
- Have all winterizing parts ready and accessible: cover, water bags, and plugs
- Ensure we have access to a working outdoor tap and garden hose
- Ensure we have access to an electrical outlet
- Tell us about any pump timers that aren't visible to the crew
A proper closing starts with clean, balanced water. Closing over a pool that's green or chemically off significantly reduces the effectiveness of the closing chemicals and can cause staining or algae problems come spring. If the water isn't ready when we arrive, a return visit charge may apply.
Have your winterizing parts (cover, water bags, and plugs) accessible and accounted for. If anything is missing, let us know in advance so we can bring what's needed. Extra water bags required beyond your set will be invoiced after the service.
Check your water bags within 24 hours of the closing. If any are leaking, contact us right away. And if anything looks off over the winter, give us a call; we're here year-round.

Frequently
asked
questions
Questions about timing, water prep, water bags, or what happens after we leave? We've answered the ones we hear most often below.
Don't see yours? Give us a call at (519) 886-8751. We're always happy to talk it through.
When should I close my pool?
Most pools in Waterloo Region are closed between late August and the end of October. We recommend closing before overnight temperatures consistently drop below 10°C. Leaving your pool open too late risks freeze damage to the plumbing and equipment; repairs caused by late closings are not covered under any warranty.
Do I need to be home for the closing?
No. As long as we have access to the pool area, an outdoor tap, and an electrical outlet, you don't need to be there.
Does my pool need to be clean and balanced before you arrive?
Yes. We need the water clean and chemically balanced before we can close the pool properly. Closing over green or unbalanced water significantly reduces the effectiveness of the closing chemicals and can cause staining or algae problems come spring. If we arrive and the water isn't ready, a return visit charge may apply.
What if I need extra water bags?
We fill the water bags that come with your cover. If additional bags are needed beyond what you have on hand, they'll be invoiced separately after the service. If you notice a leaking water bag within 24 hours of your closing, contact us right away.
Can I add cartridge cleaning to my closing?
Yes. Cartridge cleaning is commonly paired with a fall closing and can be added during online booking. Price is $160 per set of up to four cartridges. Drop-off and pick-up is your responsibility; we'll notify you when complete. Note that older cartridges may not clean well and could require replacing.
Do you service gas heaters at closing?
Gas heater servicing is not part of our closing service. We can connect you with the certified technician we work with if yours needs attention before being shut down for winter.
What should I check after the closing?
Check your water bags within 24 hours of the closing and let us know immediately if any are leaking. Beyond that, keep an eye on the cover through the winter, as heavy snow or debris loads can stress the water bags and cover anchors. Contact us if you notice anything that looks off.
